Hiway Spectrum Hang Glider

Another new exhibit assembled and in position. Hiway Spectrum Hang Glider.

Won by Ian Fyffe of Lytham in an October 1978 Aeroplane Monthly competition. During 1986 it was donated to the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester, and put into storage. On an unknown date it was passed to the Science Museum store at Wroughton, from where it came to SWAM in early 2022. On 1st November 1996 it was allocated the identity number BAPC.251 in the British Aircraft Preservation Council Register of Anonymous Airframes (now Aviation Heritage UK)

BAe 146 ZE700 has arrived!

Our latest exhibit, BAe 146 ZE700, arrived at St Athan yesterday from RAF Nothholt.

The RAF took delivery of its first BAe 146 in 1983, so yesterday marked the last flight of that type after 39 years in RAF service.

It will be some weeks before the aircraft is moved over to the museum, and announcements will be made in due course of when she will be on view to the public.

COMING SOON TO SWAM - Queens Flight BAe146 CC.2

We are please to confirm that the 32[TR]Sqn BAe146 ZE700 will be flown into St Athan on Thursday 17th March 2022. However, a time has not been confirmed.

The aircraft is destined for us at the museum and will in time be displayed outside.
