SWAM Group Visits

The South Wales Aviation Museum is a popular attraction for adult and school groups, as well as Cadets, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Brownies organisations.

We're delighted to offer 'out-of-hours' visits where groups can enjoy private guided tours of our hangar and exhibit rooms - with specifically designed aviation activities for younger visitors.

Your guided tour will be led by experienced SWAM volunteers, many of whom are former RAF veterans. During your tour you’ll be given the chance to experience our aircraft ‘close up’, with the opportunity to sit in the pilot’s seats of fast jets, helicopters, airliners and in a variety of cockpits and simulators.

Our SWAM volunteer guides will happily share their experiences and their knowledge of the aircraft and artefacts in our collection.

We have had excellent feedback from groups of all ages who have visited us. Check out our SWAM Facebook page and other review sites for our ‘happy customers’!

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT CHARGES?

For young people’s visits -schools, scouts, brownies & cadets - the charge is currently £6.50 per child . (Teachers and carers are free on a ratio of 1:6.) Our ‘educational’ visits will be tailored to meet your curriculum requirements or for your cub scout/brownie ‘aviation’ badges, - with an aviation activity linked to your topic.

For adult groups the charge is £12.50 pp. Your guided tour can be followed/preceded by the option of dining in our SWAM Cafe.

There is a minimum charge* for both day and evening group visits. Details of this charge will be outlined if necessary, - we will always try to make arrangements that will enable your group access to our museum.

*If your group is ‘too small’ we will offer you a date where you can combine with another group visit.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU NEED TO BOOK?

We are only able to host one group visit a week, so our group visit diary fills quickly. Usually our diary is full for around eight weeks in advance, - though there are occasional exceptions to this.

To avoid disappointment, - schools are advised to secure their booking ahead of the term in which they’re following a topic that would benefit from a SWAM visit.
