WR974 joins the SWAM collection.
WR974 has officially joined the collection at SWAM. We were very excited to receive the Shackleton after it was dismantled in Bruntingthorpe in the Midlands and then transported by road to us here in South Wales
Work has already began to get WR974 reassembled for when we are given the go ahead to re-open the museum. Our volunteers have been working hard and doing up lots of nuts and bolts! The Shackleton will be on display for the public once it is fully reassembled and we are open.
We are currently still awaiting an opening date confirmation. As soon as we know we will update all of our followers of the date we will be re-opening.
New arrival for SWAM!
During the lockown SWAM had a delivery of a new member! XV221 arrived on 7th May!
The plan is to restore XV221 up to museum display standard and restore her to her former glory!
We can't wait to get stuck into her restoration and will be documenting and updating you all with her progress!

Wessex XM833 update
One of our current restoration projects here at SWAM is our Wessex XM833. After arriving at SWAM in May 2019 it was placed in our restoration hangar for our volunteers to work their magic on. Our grouoWessex Team Leader has been working hard on repairing the panels and replacing them.
As well as work needing to be carried out on the exterior, there is also extensive work to be carried out on the interior of the Wessex.
We aim to fully restore the Wessex and give her a new paint job. She will then become a permenant exhibition in the museum.
Our Wessex Team leader attends the museum on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you would like to join the Wessex restoration team then please pop an email to .
